Menopause and perimenopause are natural transitions, but that doesn't mean you have to suffer through them. Many women don't realize their symptoms began years before their last period. In a 1-hour consultation, Dr. Burke reviews your symptoms, history, and goals to build an individualized plan from across bio-identical hormone therapy, herbal and nutritional support, and lifestyle medicine. Plenty of time for every question.

How we work

Three steps from your first consultation to a personalized menopause plan, with regular re-evaluation as your symptoms and labs evolve.

Step 01

Thorough history

A 1-hour intake covering your symptoms, medical and family history, prior screenings, and goals. Dr. Burke reviews benefits, risks, and candidacy for each treatment path at this visit.

  • Symptom map & severity
  • Medical & family history
  • Prior cancer / cardiac screening
  • Goals & values for treatment

Step 02

Individualized lab testing

Lab testing is individualized to each patient and their stage of transition. For perimenopausal patients, a comprehensive hormone panel is often a helpful starting point. For those further into menopause, symptoms and history frequently tell us more than labs alone. Dr. Burke determines what testing, if any, is warranted based on your specific picture.

  • Sex hormone panel (when indicated)
  • Thyroid function
  • Cardiometabolic markers
  • Bone health indicators

Step 03

Personalized plan

A treatment plan tailored to your goals, bio-identical hormone therapy when indicated and appropriate, plus herbal medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle support. Adjusted as you respond.

  • Bio-identical HRT (if appropriate)
  • Herbal & non-hormonal options
  • Nutrition & lifestyle protocol
  • Regular re-evaluation

Answers, upfront

01.What's the difference between perimenopause and menopause?

Perimenopause is the transitional period leading up to menopause, when hormone levels fluctuate and symptoms often begin. Menopause is officially diagnosed after 12 consecutive months without a period. Post-menopause is the years that follow.

02.Is hormone replacement therapy safe for me?

Safety and appropriateness depend on many individual factors, personal and family medical history above all. Dr. Burke will thoroughly review yours and discuss benefits and risks specific to your situation. See Is HRT right for me? for more.

03.What if I don't want to use hormones?

There are many effective non-hormonal options for managing menopausal symptoms, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle modifications. Dr. Burke will work with you to find an approach that aligns with your preferences.

04.How long until I see improvement?

Many women notice changes within a few weeks of starting treatment. The full benefit typically takes several months. Dr. Burke sets realistic expectations at your appointment and monitors progress closely.

05.What lab testing is involved?

Typically a comprehensive hormone panel plus testing for thyroid function, metabolic markers, and other relevant values. Dr. Burke determines the most appropriate testing based on your symptoms and history.
